Ratna Pathak Shah to play Ranveer Singh's mother in Jayeshbhai Jordaar

Ratna Pathak Shah has reportedly joined Jayeshbhai Jordaar to play Ranveer Singh's mother while Boman Irani will play the star's father in the Divyang Thakkar film.

Thakkar was a part of Ratna Pathak Shah's theatre troupe before taking up his directorial venture. 

Speaking to the Mid-Day newspaper, Ratna Pathak Shah said, "Some months ago, a young actor came to me with a script. Actors making movies can be tricky, so I was cautious as I began reading, but I was thoroughly entertained by the end of the script. The story not only had a message, but also had a heart."

Boman Irani will be playing Ranveer Singh's father. Speaking to the ANI news agency, the actor said, "Jayeshbhai Jordaar is a rare script that tells a brilliant, moving story. It is a pleasure to collaborate with YRF [Yash Raj Films] on this special project that I am sure will touch the hearts of the audience across our country.

"Working with Ranveer is always fun," Irani continued. "He is a powerhouse performer who gives his all in every scene and as an artist, it is amazing to creatively collaborate with such people. I’m playing his father in the film and we have a very interesting relationship for people to find out when they see the film."

The comedy drama will feature Ranveer Singh as a Gujarati man fighting for women's empowerment. The film will also feature Arjun Reddy (2017) actress Shalini Pandey opposite Ranveer Singh. The film will mark Pandey's debut in Hindi cinema. 

Produced by Yash Raj Films, Jayeshbhai Jordaar will be released in theatres later this year.
