Bas itni si baat? [Just this small thing?], asks the poster of Anubhav Sinha’s next Thappad (2020). The poster captures actress Taapsee Pannu after a heated moment, likely after the aforementioned ‘slap’ from the title.
Pannu’s tweet alongside the poster sheds further light on what the film could be about. ‘Kya pyaar mein ye bhi jayaz hai? [Is this allowed in love?],’ referring to what is permissible between a couple within a relationship. It seems as if she is being hit by her partner.

Sinha’s previous two films, Mulk (2018) and Article 15 (2019) have taken up pertinent issues within the country, and it seems Thappad will continue the filmmaker’s strong voice on this matter as well.
The trailer of the film, also starring Pavail Gupta, will be out tomorrow, 31 January. Thappad is due to be released on 28 February.
