The first poster for Maidaan (2020), a biopic of former Indian football coach and manager Syed Abdul Rahim, teases the look of the upcoming period film, directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma.
The poster only shows the lower half of the football players who are completely coated in mud while wearing their kits, some with a football in their hands. Even the title font is written in brown color to give it more muddy feel. The creative poster certainly piques our interest.
Syed Rahim took over Indian football team coaching in 1950. Under his coaching, India won gold in the Asian Games in 1951 and1962, and reached the semi-finals in 1956 Olympics in Melbourne, Australia.
Sharma earlier made the sleeper hit comedy Badhaai Ho (2018) starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Gajraj Rao, and Neena Gupta in the leads.
Telugu actress Keerthy Suresh had been selected to play Ajay Devgn’s wife, but later she was replaced by actress Priyamani, citing the reason of Keerthy looking too young to play Devgn’s wife.
Produced by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios, Maidaan is slated for release on 27 November.
