Earlier this month, producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films officially announced the sequel to his zombie comedy Go Goa Gone (2013) by sharing its title poster. There were few confirmations about Go Goa Gone 2 (2021) in the last few years but this was the first time that it was announced officially.

During the announcement, Vijan also said that the same set of characters from the first film will be carried in the sequel. However, Kunal Kemmu, who played the character of Hardik in the film, said that he hasn’t been told about the sequel from any of the makers. The actor was asked about the sequel during interviews for his upcoming film Malang (2020)

When it was pointed out to him that the sequel has been announced, he sarcastically said, “Yes, I believe so.” When he was asked if he has been approached for it, he said, “The thing is in the last two years we announced it thrice, but always a lot of logistical issues have come in the way. So this is another announcement that has happened. I hope that this time it kind of sees through.”

Kemmu added that he doesn’t even know the story of the sequel. “Officially we haven’t read any scripts or we haven’t made any official commitments to it. So, I am as excited and looking forward to it as you are.”

Strangely, the poster of Go Goa Gone 2 doesn't feature the names of its directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK adding speculation if someone else would be directing it.

But Kemmu is happy to see the film still being talked about pointing out that there weren’t many takers for it then. “I am just very happy that a baby that Raj, DK and I nurtured in a room one day that nobody believed in as a film that seven and a half years later of its release people still want to see and talk about,” he said.

When Kemmu was asked if Saif Ali Khan is a part of Go Goa Gone 2, he laughingly said, “I don’t know if I am a part of it.”

Directed by Raj and DK, Go Goa Gone starred Khan, Kemmu, Vir Das, Anand Tiwari and Puja Gupta.
