Sweety Satarkar teaser: Amruta Deshmukh is head over heels in love for the man of her dreams

Girls catcalling a man is often a rare sight, especially in Marathi films. With the advent of social media, especially Instagram, that is beginning to change. The teaser for the upcoming film, Sweety Satarkar (2020), seems to hint at the life of one such girl.

Just over a minute long, the teaser introduces us to Sweety Satarkar played by Amruta Deshmukh. Dancing on the roads, picking up fights with the guys, and drooling over the man of her dreams played by actor Sangram Samel, Sweety is unlike any other girls of her age. Even her dressing sense is very flashy and colorful, mirroring her character. 

Amruta Deshmukh is quite popular on Marathi television. She has worked in serials like Freshers and Tumcha Amcha Same Asta before. Marathi cinema has seen female characters before who don’t shy away from expressing their feelings, the most famous being Archi from Sairat (2016), but not in such explicit manner. 

Interestingly, a few days ago, Sangram Samel made a public appeal on Facebook about facing harassment by a girl named Sweety Satarkar. Samel alleged that the girl sent him 400-450 messages, and his married life is under threat. Thankfully, it was just a publicity stunt to create a buzz around their film. 

The film is directed by Shabbir Naik, who had previously worked as a cinematographer for films like Khel Mandla (2011) and Bioscope (2015).
