The Telugu remake of Hindi multiplex hit Pink (2016), which featured Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles, has gone on the floors in Hyderabad.
Actor Pawan Kalyan, after a brief hiatus due to his political commitments, returns to acting with this project which will be directed by Venu Sriram. Kalyan joined the sets earlier this week.
"Allu Arjun has agreed to start working on Icon (2020) after Sriram completes the Pawan Kalyan film. Similar to the Tamil version, Nerkonda Paarvai (2019), the Telugu remake will have a fine balance between the social message and the commercial elements. Pawan has given a 20-day call sheet and the film is expected to go on floors later this year,” a source was quoted in a report by CinemaExpress.com.
Nivetha Thomas and Anjali have been signed to play the key characters. The rest of the cast and crew will be announced soon.
To be jointly produced by Boney Kapoor and Dil Raju, the project is likely to have dialogues by filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas.
Meanwhile, Kalyan’s next project with director Krish Jagarlamudi will be officially launched on 27 January. Tipped to be a period drama set in pre-independent India, the film will be made in multiple languages.
The regular shooting, if everything goes as planned, will begin from third week of February.
“The plan is to make a pan Indian project. Since Krish is popular in Bollywood [Hindi cinema], he convinced Pawan Kalyan and the producer with the idea of making the film in multiple languages including Hindi. This is one the primary reasons why they’re on the verge of signing actors from across industries,” a source from the film’s unit said.
