Featuring an ensemble cast of Jitendra Joshi, Amruta Khanvilkar, Aniket Vishwasrao, Hemant Dhome and Kshitee Jog, Choricha Mamla (2020) is an out-and-out comedy of errors. Staying true to its genre, the trailer also features funny moments one after the other.
Jitendra Joshi plays a thief who enters a house without knowing that it is occupied by two people who are probably more eccentric than he is. Amruta Khanvilkar is trying to seduce Hemant Dhome in the film, but her plan is ruined when Joshi's character enters the house.
Aniket Vishwasrao plays a tough cop who is frustrated with doing double duty with no reward or appreciation. He is investigating the matter of a stolen pet dog, Leo. The actor has already proved with films like Tendulkar Out (2013) and Poshter Boys (2014) that he has good comic timing.
Jitendra Joshi is an experienced campaigner, especially in films which rely more on physical comedy, and it seems that he has found the balance between looking innocent and mischievous at the same time here.
Two actresses who prominently feature in the trailer are Khanvilkar and Jog. Khanvilkar looks glamorous as ever, but it will be interesting to see if she can pull off the comical scenes with conviction.
Priyadarshan Jadhav, who is known for his comic roles in Marathi cinema, has directed this film. This is his second directorial venture after Maska (2018).
If there was even the slightest doubt about the film's genre, the trailer pretty much makes it clear that Choricha Mamla will be an over-the-top slapstick comedy.
