Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi-starrer Chehre (2020) has been moved yet again. The Rummy Jafry film will now release on 17 July. The film was initially supposed to release on 21 February and was then moved to 24 April. Hence, this is the second time it has been delayed.
In an official statement, the makers have said that they have taken the decision after producers of Bachchan’s other film Gulabo Sitabo (2020), Shoojit Sircar and Ronnie Lahiri, requested them to shift the release date since their film is releasing a week before on 17 April.
Producer Anand Pandit stated, “Yes, we have moved Chehre to 17 July upon a special request from the makers of Gulabo Sitabo. We have always had a fantastic association with Shoojit Sircar and Ronnie Lahiri, and seeing as it was mutually beneficial to not only all of us to give a good release window to these exciting movies, but also to Mr Bachchan’s fans, we decided to now release Chehre on 17 July.”
Lahiri is thankful to the makers of Chehre for accepting their request. “Our film was ready and we were keen to release it in April. We share a great rapport with Mr Anand Pandit and as [the] Chehre shoot was going on, we humbly requested him if we could release Gulabo Sitabo in April and he was gracious and kind enough to push the release date of Chehre,” he added in the statement.
Chehre will see Bachchan and Hashmi play rival lawyers. The film also stars Rhea Chakraborty, Siddhanth Kapoor, Dhritiman Chatterjee, Krystle D’Souza, Raghuvir Yadav and Annu Kapoor.
