Actor Rajinikanth’s Darbar (2020), according to trade sources, has collected over Rs200 crore globally across all languages in 11 days since its release in cinemas.

Darbar is now the fifth Rajinikanth-starrer to breach into the Rs200 crore club after Enthiran (2010), Kabali (2016), 2.0 (2018) and Petta (2019).

Directed by AR Murugadoss, Darbar was released in three languages - Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The film is doing exceptionally well in Tamil and Telugu, but struggling in Hindi.

Darbar stars Rajinikanth in the role of an angry cop who sets out to avenge his daughter. It marks the maiden collaboration between Rajinikanth and filmmaker Murugadoss, who is best known for helming Ghajini (2008) and Kaththi (2014). It marks the return of Rajinikanth in the role of a cop after 25 years.

Darbar also stars Nayanthara, Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar, Nivetha Thomas and Yogi Babu in key roles. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander while Santosh Sivan is the cinematographer.

Reports have emerged that Rajinikanth and Murugadoss are most likely going to reunite for another project next year. However, an official confirmation on the reunion is yet awaited.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is currently shooting for his next Tamil project with director Siva. The yet-untitled family drama also stars Keerthy Suresh, Khushbu and Meena in important roles. The project has music by D Imman and being bankrolled by Sun Pictures.

Siva, known for films such as Veeram (2014) and Viswasam (2019), has teamed up with Rajinikanth for the first time. The film is tipped to be an action drama in the background of the rural setting of Tamil Nadu.
