Amazon Prime is set to unleash a list of 14 new arrivals on its OTT platform for streaming in 2020. The streaming platform unveiled the whole list of shows set to release in 2020, with a new video. While the new year will see new seasons for several popular shows like Mirzapur, Breathe, The Family Man, Inside Edge, etc, there will be seven new shows launched later in the year.
The new series list includes Oscar winner-Asif Kapadia's The Last Hour, Ali Abbas Zafar's political drama Dilli, Kabir Khan's period war series The Forgotten Army: Azaadi Ke Liye, Nikkhil Advani's Mumbai Diaries 26/11, OML-backed Gormint, Sudip Sharma's Pataal Lok, and Anand Tiwari's Bandish Bandits.
The slate of new ventures includes some high profile names in the director's as well as cast list. Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar, Kabir Khan, Reema Kagti, Ali Abbas Zafar, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK leading the writing and directing sections.
Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan has followed up his OTT breakthrough in Netflix's Sacred Games with an appearance alongside Dimple Kapadia and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in Dilli. The series will explore the 'dark corners of Indian politics'.
Politics seems to be the ruling theme, with three major series revolving around the subject. Another new entrant to the platform will be Amol Palekar, who will be part of the series, Gormint. Irrfan Khan was originally cast for the role, now played by Amol Palekar. But the actor had to pull out from the project after he was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour in 2018.
Similarly, Naseeruddin Shah and Atul Kulkarni will also lead the drama, Bandish Bandits, directed by Anand Tiwari. The series will revolve around the clash of two musician prodogies, and the politics in the genres.
Konkona Sensharma will also join Nikkhil Advani's Mumbai Diaries 26/11, a recreation of the deadly terror attack on the city of Mumbai. This is the actress's first venture onto an OTT streaming platform as well.
The other major attractions will be the new seasons of popular series Mirzapur, Breathe, and The Family Man. The second season of Breathe will see another major addition in Abhishek Bachchan, who replaces R Madhavan's character.
In addition to these, Amazon Prime will also see the two unscripted titles with Sons Of Soil: Jaipur's Pink Panthers and Comicstaan Tamil.
