Vikram Bhatt is known for making supernatural and horror thrillers like Raaz (2003) and Raaz: The Mystery Continues (2009). But for his upcoming film Hacked (2020), Bhatt has chosen a different genre.
The film, starring Hina Khan and Rohan Shah, is a cyber thriller. The makers released the trailer for the film today, and going by the trailer it seems Hacked is an updated version of Darr (1993).
The trailer begins with a 19-year-old youth (Rohan Shah) stalking Hina Khan. He thinks he is in love with her. But when Hina Khan does not reciprocate his feelings, the lad decides to hack into her phone and leak her private photos and e-mails.
Though the film seems to deal with a serious offence that involves hacking, stalking and intrusion of privacy, the trailer fails to bring out any of the seriousness of the issue. The primary reasons are the amateurish performances by the artistes featured in the trailer and the sloppy editing. In fact, the trailer reminds you of TV serials like Saavdhan India and Crime Patrol.
While almost every film today is shot on digital cameras, they still need to have a 'cinematic' look, but that is exactly what is lacking here. In fact, the trailer looks like a project by a bunch of first-year students of filmmaking.
This is TV actress Hina Khan’s big-screen debut, but she fails to make any impact in the few glimpses that we see of her in the trailer.
Written and directed by Vikram Bhatt, Hacked is slated for release on 7 February. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
