The song 'Tumi Jodi Chao' from Raj Chakraborty’s Dharmajuddha (2020) is a melodious romantic number by Indraadip Dasgupta. Shreya Ghoshal’s soothing rendition has done full justice to the words by Ritam Sen. The song features Subhasree Ganguly as Munni and her husband, played by Saptarshi Maulik.
Munni is a shy and loving wife and this song expresses her feelings for her husband and their new marriage. The innocence of her nature is reflected in the simple words that conveys her world revolves around her husband and her love for him fills her entire being. In the visuals, too, she is seen to be pampered and taken care of by her loving husband. He has a smiling face and both seem to be enjoying pure marital bliss, with the anticipation of welcoming their offspring.
Dasgupta has made use of the simple lyrics with infusing as much melody into the tune as he can. Though the composition is not an easy one, yet Ghoshal’s effortless singing makes it a smooth rendition that goes well with the rustic and humble lifestyle of Munni and her husband.
However, the film, also featuring Ritwick Chakraborty, Soham Chakraborty and Parno Mittra, and Swatilekha Dasgupta, focuses on the atrocities of communal violence, hence, it wouldn’t be odd to presume that Munni’s days of pure marital bliss would soon come under threat, as indicated in the teaser.
Dharmajuddhe is slated for release on 20 March. Watch the song below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
