The film will star actor-director Pravin Tarde and mark the acting debut of National award-winning director Bhaurao Nanasaheb Karhade.

The nation recently saw a Hindi film based on the third battle of Panipat with Ashutosh Gowariker’s Panipat (2019), which had Arjun Kapoor play the lead character of Sadashivrao Bhau. It was based on the war between the Marathas and Abdul Shah Abdali of Afghanistan.

Now, Marathi cinema is all set to continue the story after the battle, which was lost by the Marathas, in the upcoming movie Baloch. The war film will be directed by Prakash Janardan Pawar and produced under the banners of Vishwgunj Pictures and Gulab Production.

The film will tell the story of Maratha warriors who survived the third battle of Panipat, but were held captive by Abdali in Balochistan where they were enslaved and were forced to convert to Islam.

Baloch will star actor-director Pravin Tarde, who is known for directing Mulshi Pattern (2018). The film will mark the acting debut of National award-winning director Bhaurao Nanasaheb Karhade, known for making acclaimed films like Khwada (2015) and Baban (2018). The cast also includes newcomers like Vishal Nikam and Rohit Aawale.

The makers have revealed the poster of the film which has an handpainted artistic look, mostly in blue shades, which is a nice contrast to the fire burning on the fort in the background. A group of barefooted, captured Maratha soldiers are heading towards the fort, ready to attack. The presence of a full moon adds to the intensity of the night.

Baloch is due to be released later this year.
