Srijit Mukherji has released the first look of his upcoming web-series Feluda Pherot, featuring Tota Roy Chowdhury as the iconic sleuth Feluda, originally conceived by Satyajit Ray. Feluda Pherot will be the first ever web-series for the Bengali online platform Addatimes, based on Ray’s two stories Chhinnamostar Obhishap and Joto Kando Kathmandu Te.

The completely new look of the three iconic characters of Feluda stories have already created buzz. Apart from Roy Chowdhury, young theatre and independent film actor Kalpan Mitra has been roped in for the character of Topse and Anirban Chakraborty will be seen playing Lalmohan Ganguly aka Jatayu.

According to Roy Chowdhury, Mukherji initially had three choices in his mind for Feluda; however, eventually he decided to cast him without even a look test. He further stated that the director will adapt one of the two stories into contemporary context, while the other will be set in the time it was written.

Mukherji has shared two photos from the two stories, in which Roy Chowdhury appears to be appropriately fitting into the physical avatar of Feluda, sketched by Ray himself. He looks young and spirited, while Mitra and Chakraborty too seem to be doing justice to the thoughts put into their respective characters by Ray.

One of the photos of the trio is taken before a temple, which clearly states that the still is from Chhinnamostar Obhishap and the other has a different background. In order to keep a fresh approach, Mukherji has chosen the two stories that have not been touched by either Satyajit or Sandip Ray for cinematic adaptations.

Feluda Pherot is due to begin streaming early in this year.
