Singer and actress Surangana Bandopadhyay has lent a soothing rendition to the song 'Kon Gopone' from Aritra Mukherjee’s debut film Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti (2020). Earlier, she sang 'Aloshyo' in Srijit Mukherji’s Uma (2018) and it on went to become one of the most popular songs of the year.
The song has a simple and repetitive tune like most of Anindya Chattopadhyay’s compositions. The temperament of a lullaby in it, suits the texture of Bandopadhyay’s voice. She has also brought out the tenderness of a domestic life, that pervades Chattopadhyay’s lyrics, with her soft rendition.
The song features Ritabhari Chakraborty as Shabari, and Soham Majumdar as her husband Vikramaditya. The film explores the potentials of Shabari as a multitasker in both her professional field and at her home. In most of the visuals, she seems to be musing in solitude and probably, hiding her sadness as women do not often get the opportunity to express their emotions in their in laws’ place.
At the same time, in some of the visuals, Shabari is seen to be finding solace in Vikramaditya’s shoulder and avoiding him as well. The entire song attempts to chronicle the daily saga of Shabari and shows how she deals with her emotions, while balancing her home, with a very subtle approach.
The best part is the mood of the visuals, lyrics and Bandopadhyay's vocals, all have blended into a synchronised experience, giving out the essence of Shabari's domestic life, to which perhaps, every working woman can relate with.
Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti is slated for release on this woman’s day. Watch the song below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
