Malang title song: Ved Sharma’s moody, mellow composition hits the spot

The title track, written by Kunaal Vermaa and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, makes for pleasant listening experience.

Sonal Pandya

Moving away from the melancholy ‘Chal Ghar Chale’, the latest song from Malang (2020) is slightly more upbeat. The Ved Sharma composition is moodier and mellow borrowing from its locales. It’s a pleasant melody that hits the spot, especially if you are on a long drive.

Sharma also sings the title song, giving it a dreamy tinge that matches the visual choreography. The composition also incorporates some EDM beats at appropriate moments for an additional touch of the Goa mood.

The lyrics have been co-written by Kunaal Vermaa and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, and suit the nomadic lifestyles that Aditya Roy Kapur and Disha Patani's characters seem to share.

Set in picturesque Goa, the title song sets up the moment when the two characters connect. Their meeting is a coincidence, or is it? After their first meeting, the couple seem inseparable, spending every waking moment together, frolicking at the beach and living a carefree life.

The visuals end with Kapur in prison beating up another inmate, giving us some major Marjaavaan (2019) vibes. We can only hope that the storyline of Malang doesn’t offer the same experience.

Malang, directed by Mohit Suri, is due to be released on 7 February. Watch the song below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
