After making waves with Quantico as the first Indian star to headline an American television series, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is joining actor Richard Madden on the global multi-edition web-series Citadel by Joe and Anthony Russo.
While Chopra Jonas and Madden will headline the American edition of the series, director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK will develop the Indian version of the web-series for Amazon Prime Video.
The big announcement was made on 14 January by the streaming platform at the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour.

Besides the American series, there will be local editions of the series for Mexico, Italy, and India. These will be interconnected to the American ‘mothership’ edition, according to Amazon.
The American edition will be written by Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, who will also be executive producers of the show. They will joined by Patrick Moran, Mike Larocca and the Russo brothers as executive producers as well. The Russos are known for co-directing some of Marvel’s biggest blockbusters, including Avengers: Endgame (2019), one of the highest-grossing films of all time.
Filmmakers Raj and DK, as they are commonly known, helmed the popular Amazon web-series, The Family Man, starring Manoj Bajpayee, last year. They are currently working on a second season for the spy thriller.
Citadel is said to be an “action-packed spy series with a compelling emotional centre” and the duo are an excellent choice to develop the international series.
Chopra Jonas is also starring in the Netflix adaptation of the novel The White Tiger with Rajkummar Rao and will be seen in the Netflix film, We Can Be Heroes, by Robert Rodriguez. Besides this, she is co-producing a reality series with husband Nick Jonas based on their wedding sangeet (marriage-eve music-and-dance function) for Amazon.
There is no word yet on the cast of the Indian edition or when the web-series will be streamed online.
