Jatin Sarna’s character Bunty gained fame in last couple of years in the web-series Sacred Games. He played a gangster in Ganesh Gaitonde’s (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) gang who didn’t show any qualms in wielding a gun. But now he is all set to wield a cricket bat in Kabir Khan’s keenly anticipated 83 (2020).
Sarna will be seen playing the character of former Indian cricketer Yashpal Sharma. The first look poster of his shows him in an aggressive mode while playing a sweep shot.
The makers shared the poster on their official Facebook page with the caption, “The fearless batsman who could single handedly change the game for India. Presenting the next devil Yashpal Sharma!”
Born in Punjab in 1954, Sharma was a middle-order batsman known for his hard-hitting display at batting, as seen in the poster. He played 42 one-day internationals and 37 test matches. He has two centuries to his name in test cricket. He was also an occasional wicket-keeper. After his retirement, he has served as an umpire and match referee.
Apart from Sacred Games, Sarna was seen recently in well-known movies like Gold (2018), Sonchiriya (2019) and the recently released Rajinikanth-starrer Darbar (2020).
Starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role as Kapil Dev, 83 is based on India’s famous cricket World Cup victory of 1983. The film will be released on 10 April 2020.
