Shahid Kapoor made an unusual entry at the Mumbai airport on Saturday 11 January with wife Mira Rajput. The actor was covering half his face with a cloth, which raised curiosity among netizens.

The actor has revealed that he had the mask on as he has suffered an injury while shooting for his upcoming film Jersey during a scene in which he was playing cricket.

Reacting to people’s questions on Twitter, Kapoor wrote, “Thank you for all the concern. Yes, I have got a few stitches but am recovering fast. Jersey has taken a little bit of my blood but a script this good deserves that in the least.”

Jersey is the Hindi remake of the Telugu film of the same name by director Gowtam Tinnanuri, starring Nani and Shraddha Srinath, which was released last year. Gowtam Tinnanuri is helming the Hindi remake as well.

Nani had played the male lead in the Telugu film. He is best known for his role in SS Rajamouli’s Eega (2012).

Interestingly, Kapoor’s previous film, Kabir Singh, was also the remake of a Telugu film, Arjun Reddy (2017). Kabir Singh was also directed by the same person who directed the original, Sandeep Reddy Vanga.

Whether Jersey manages to set the box office on fire like Kabir Singh did will only be known later.
