It has been over a year since Anushka Sharma has had a film release. The actress was last seen in Aanand L Rai's Zero (2018) with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. Since then she has not announced any project, until now.
The actress was spotted at Kolkata's iconic Eden Gardens stadium in a shoot with former India women's cricket captain Jhulan Goswami, adding fuel to the rumours that she will play her in a biopic.
Fans are already sharing leaked pictures of Sharma walking the field as Goswami. Sharma is seen wearing the blue Team India kit and her hair is shorter to match Goswami's.

Sharma is an inspired choice to play Goswami. She already knows the career of and the demands on an Indian cricket star, since her husband is none other than India men's cricket captain Virat Kohli.
The biopic, directed by Prosit Roy, will trace the life and career of the former all-rounder who was also captain of the national women's cricket team for three years. In 2017, Goswami led the team to the cricket World Cup final where it eventually lost to hosts England at the Lord’s cricket ground.
Goswami was named ICC Woman Cricketer of the Year in 2007. She received the Arjuna award in 2010 and the Padma Shri in 2012.
Interestingly, there is another movie in the works on Goswami's successor as captain, batter Mithali Raj. Actress Taapsee Pannu has been signed on to play her in Shabaash Mithu. The release dates for both films are as yet unknown.
