Ranveer Singh unveils new logo for the Kabir Khan cricketing epic, 83

The film on India's cricket World Cup triumph in 1983 is set to be released in theatres on 10 April this year.

In the midst of an increasingly fraught environment in which his wife Deepika Padukone is in the eye of a storm for taking a stand, Ranveer Singh has gone on quietly with his work. The actor's latest film, '83, is into its last stages. The makers of the film unveiled a new logo that captures the significant year that marked India's rise as a power in the world of cricket.

The new logo captures the numbers 83 in gold embossing. While the title is quite significant, the year also marked one of India's greatest sporting triumphs.

The film will see Ranveer Singh take on the role of Kapil Dev, strike bowler and captain of the World Cup-winning team. The actor spent quite a few hours with the former India cricket star on the latter's birthday recently on 6 January 2020.

'83 will also see Padukone make a short appearance as Romi Dev, Kapil Dev's wife. This will mark the first on-screen collaboration between Ranveer Singh and Padukone after their marriage.

Kabir Khan's film also has Tahir Raj Bhasin playing the great Test batsman Sunil Gavaskar, Ammy Virk as former captain and great left-arm spinner Bishan Singh Bedi, Chirag Patil as the dashing middle-order batsman Sandeep Patil, Saqib Saleem as the determined Mohinder Amarnath and South star Jiiva as the flamboyant opening batsman K Srikkanth.

'83 will be released in theatres on 10 April.
