First-time filmmaker director Raj Mehta’s Good Newwz (2019) continued its good run even in its second week. The film earned Rs50.75 crore nett in this period, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
Starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani, the film opened on a winning note and continued to have a good hold even on the weekdays after the Christmas and New Year period was over. It finished the first week with impressive numbers of Rs124.94 crore nett.
Adding this with its second week numbers, the grand total of Good Newwz currently stands at Rs175.96 crore nett. As per our trade sources, the film is made at an estimated budget of Rs70 crore. With such a grand total, it is safe to say that Good Newwz has turned out to be a major success and yet another winner for Akshay Kumar.
The actor’s highest grosser was his last film, Housefull 4 (2019), which finished at Rs205.60 crore nett. We need to wait and watch if Good Newwz reaches that number. But even if it doesn’t, it is still a bigger hit than Housefull 4 because of its moderate budget.
Ajay Devgn-starrer Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (2020) releases today and the film is expected to take a good opening. It will probably have an effect on Good Newwz’s numbers.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan’s Dabangg 3 (2019) could make only Rs3.85 crore nett in its third week taking its overall total to an average Rs135.52 crore nett.
