Vikun Taak was supposed to be a black comedy, says producer Uttung Hitendra Thakur

The trailer for Sameer Patil’s Marathi movie Vikun Taak has managed to have the audience in splits. Chunku Pandey’s funny act as an Arab has played a role in it. However, the film was earlier supposed to be a black comedy. 

Producer Uttung Hitendra Thakur revealed how the film shaped up during the development of the script. “Writer Siddheshwar Ekambe had narrated the film to me first," he said in an official statement. "I liked the subject, but I felt that the story leans towards being a black comedy. I always wanted Sameer Patil to direct the film as we were both eager to work with each other.”

Thakur and Patil then made some changes to the script. “Sameer and I heard the story together and, with Siddheshwar’s permission, made changes in it and tried telling it in a more humorous way. Though the film is a comedy, it gives importance to a social message,” Thakur said.

This is Thakur’s fourth film as producer after Balak Palak (2013), Yellow (2014) and Dokyala Shot (2019). As a director, Patil has earlier made films like Poshter Boyz (2014), Poshter Girl (2016), Kis Kiss Ka Kissa (2017, Hindi) and Shentimental (2017). 

Vikun Taak stars Shivraj Waichal, Radha Sagar, Chunky Pandey, Hrishikesh Joshi, Rohit Mane and Rutuja Deshmukh. The film is due to be released on 14 February.
