Taapsee Pannu encourages Delhi's citizens to vote

Actress Taapsee Pannu returned home to Delhi today just to cast her vote in the election to the Delhi legislative assembly and urged others to turn up and vote as well. She shared a picture of herself with her sister Shagun and their parents after they had cast their votes and captioned it, “Pannu Parivaar has voted. Have you? Every Vote Counts.”
Pannu claimed that her parents did not know that she would be coming home to vote. In one of her Instagram Stories, Pannu shared a video of herself with her sister and wrote, “When your parents are not prepared to receive you home all of a sudden.”
Of course, Pannu didn’t reveal whom she voted for, but she has made her political leanings clear in recent times. The actress has been vocal against the discriminatory Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the controversial proposal for a National Register of Citizens (NRC) and has shown her support for the students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) who got beaten up by masked goons last December.
The Delhi assembly election has been in the news over the past few weeks with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the country's ruling party, going all out to wrest the city-state from the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The past few weeks have seen a continuous war of words between leaders of both parties till the last day of campaigning, 7 February.
On the work front, Pannu will next be seen in Anubhav Sinha’s Thappad (2020), which is slated for release on 28 February.
