The film will be the director's first major project since the National award-winning Bulbul Can Sing (2019).

Rima Das might have jury duty for the upcoming Berlin International Film Festival, but she is already thinking about her next film. In an exclusive conversation with Cinestaan.com, the director revealed that she might begin work on her next project as soon as March.
"I am thinking, writing. One way or another, I will start in March," Das replied on being asked if she had started on any new project.
She went on to add, "I am thinking of something to make in Mumbai. I will start work, with Tillotama Shome very soon. There is also one other film I am working on. I am talking to producers for it."
If it comes through, the project will be the first film for Das set in Mumbai. While she has lived in the city for the better part of a decade, the filmmaker's two breakthrough films, Village Rockstars (2018) and Bulbul Can Sing (2019) were set in her home state of Assam. The filmmaker had previously spoken of setting a film in Hindi, but that remains to be seen.
In January 2019, Shome had spoken about working with Das on a new project. With the film set in Mumbai, the filmmaker seems to be heading towards a new direction in her filmmaking career.
