SS Rajamouli’s RRR release moved to 8 January next year

It is rumoured that Jr NTR and Ram Charan play brothers in the modern-day portion and will be seen as Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju in the period portion which will be a flashback episode in RRR.

SS Rajamouli’s upcoming magnum opus RRR (2021), which was originally planned for release in July 2020, has been delayed for reasons not revealed. The film will now be released worldwide on 8 January 2021, according to its makers.

The announcement was made via a special poster. The film stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan in lead roles. It also marks the maiden collaboration of both actors. Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt also play crucial roles in the film.

In RRR, it is rumoured that Jr NTR and Ram Charan play brothers in the modern-day portion and will be seen as Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju in the period portion which will be the flashback episode.

At a press meet last year, Rajamouli had said RRR would be a fictional story set in the pre-Independence era in the 1920s and it would be based on a few years in the lives of two real heroes and well-known revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem.

“This will be a fictional story on the lives of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. There are gaps in the lives of these legendary freedom fighters that we don’t know about. We don’t know what happened in their lives in these years. Through this fictional story we would like to show what could have happened in their lives and what would have happened if they had met and bonded,” Rajamouli said.

Jr NTR will be seen as Komaram Bheem and Ram Charan will be playing Alluri Sitarama Raju. The film also stars Alia Bhatt and Samuthirakani in crucial roles. Alia will be paired with Ram Charan while foreign actress Olivia Morris is likely paired with Jr NTR.

RRR will be released in as many as 10 Indian languages. Presented by D Parvathy, the film is being produced under the DVV Entertainments banner by DVV Danayya.
