Shekkhar Suri’s Guns Of Banaras (2020) sees actor Karann Nathh mark his return to the big screen (with an extra 'n' and 'h' in his name) after more than 15 years. His previous film was Aruna Raje’s Tum: A Dangerous Obsession (2004). He had also shot for Sudhir Mishra’s Tera Kya Hoga Johnny but that film was never released.
It is not possible to make out the plot of the film from the teaser as it looks like the makers have purposely kept it hidden. All we know is that Karann Nathh, who plays Guddu Shukla, is the hot-headed hero of the film living in Banaras who just needs a reason to flex his muscles and beat up his opponents. Guddu and company are known as ‘Guns Of Banaras’ in the movie.
The teaser of Guns Of Banaras makes it clear that the film is a hero-centric masala entertainer meant for the single-screen crowd. But it seems the film is more than 20 years too late. It looks suspiciously like a South Indian masala action film dubbed in Hindi; the likes of which are seen on television 24x7.
The good thing is that Karann Nathh has kept himself fit even after all these years. Guns Of Banaras also marks the comeback of Shilpa Shirodkar after 20 years. Her last released film was MF Husain’s Gaja Gamini (2000). The film also stars Zarina Wahab, Abhimanyu Singh and Dr Mohan Agashe.
Guns Of Banaras will be released on 28 February. Watch the teaser below and let us know if you would be watching the film.
