Daah: Ek Marmasparshi Katha is a social drama wrapped in a romantic plot. At least the trailer for the film indicates as much.
The trailer starts with Disha (Sayali Sanjeev) and Suhrud Wardekar’s sweet love story but shifts abruptly thereafter to the social drama about blind faith, among other issues. Disha takes it upon herself to bring about social reform in the small village.
The trailer looks quite dated in its style and presentation. It has the unmistakable feel of an early-1990s film. Even the editing of the trailer seems shoddy while the loud background score only makes matters worse.
In matters of appearance, Sayali Sanjeev looks compelling in her role, but the rest of the cast seems to make no impact. One can only hope the film fares better than its trailer.
Daah is produced by Aniket Rajkumar Badole, son of former Maharashtra minister Rajkumar Badole. Directed by Malhar Ganesh, Daah: Ek Marmasparshi Katha is scheduled to be released on 14 February.
Interestingly, Mann Fakira, also starring Sayali Sanjeev, will be released on the same day. This means the actress will have two films going up against each other on Valentine's Day.
