The trailer of Rohan Sen’s upcoming film Ebhabei Golpo Hok (2020), offers glimpses of a narrative of various characters, woven within a story written by the protagonist Siddhartha, played by Ananda S Choudhury. The film, which has a story-within-a-story structure, speaks of human relationships that thrive on hope.

In the film, Joy Sengupta plays a director, who, after facing repeated failures in making thrillers, decides to make a romantic film using Siddhartha’s unfinished story. The director shares his ideas with the production controller, played by Santilal Mukherjee, and is irritated when the latter does not like the ideas.

In the trailer, one gradually sees Siddhartha’s life, involving his girlfriend (Bibriti Chatterjee), unfolding. His narration carries the essence of a writer, who looks at life with a different perspective. The visuals continue to show moments of romance between the two, until it comes to the point where they separate. It can be clearly understood that the production controller has begun hunting for Siddhartha, to find out the rest of the story. But Siddhartha tells him that he is unaware about how the story will progress.

Apart from Sengupta’s overdramatic portrayal of an alcoholic, the rest of the characters seem grounded in reality. The trailer also hints at what the audience may expect from the film, the manner in which the director and production controller will take the autobiography of a writer ahead.

Ebhabei Golpo Hok is slated for release on 13 March.
