Neeraj Pandey, Ajay Devgn's Chanakya to go on floors in October

The director has confirmed that he will begin the first schedule of the period epic later this year.

Neeraj Pandey might have returned to action after a small hiatus with the web-series, Special Ops, but the director is already planning for his big feature project to go on the floors later this year. The director has confirmed that his first epic drama, Chanakya, will go on the floors in October this year.

The film marks the first collaboration between Pandey and actor Ajay Devgn. The project will be based on the life of the mythical figure of Chanakya, who is considered by many to be the author of Arthashastra, a famed treatise on economics and politics in 2nd century BC India.

Speaking about the film to the news agency Press Trust of India (PTI), Pandey said, "It is an out-and-out period film. This will be new for me. We are going back to the Mauryan era, in ancient India. I hope it’s exciting and interesting for the audience. Work is on in full swing, we are right now prepping for it."

The director has currently launched his first web-series, Special Ops, featuring Kay Kay Menon, Karan Tacker, Divya Dutta, Saiyami Kher, Vinay Pathak, and Meher Vij among others.

The series is set to stream on the HotStar digital platform from 17 March.
