Zollywood poster: Colourful hand-drawn images inspired by zhaadi-patti theatre tradition

Directed by first-timer Trushant Ingle, the film is about the artistes who have kept this folk form alive.

Zhaadi-patti is a theatre tradition belonging to the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. In the four months from Diwali to Holi, daily performances of zhaadi-patti are seen all over the region. For the first time, a film is being made on the artistes who have dedicated their lives to this art form.

The filmmakers recently released a colorful poster of the film, which is titled Zollywood. The design of the poster is inspired by the actual zhaadi-patti posters. It has hand-drawn portraits of the characters from the film, with a stage-like setting in the background.

Zollywood is directed by first-time filmmaker Trushant Ingle and produced by Wishberry Films. Amit Masurkar, the director of critically-acclaimed films like Newton (2017) and Sulemani Keeda (2014), is the presenter and creative producer of the movie.

Zollywood is expected to release on 17 April.
