The makers of AB Aani CD have already created a fair bit of curiosity around the film by employing Amitabh Bachchan’s name in the promotional material. But for the first teaser for the film, the makers have used a new strategy. The teaser does not feature Bachchan, unlike the two posters.
Chandrakant Deshpande (Vikram Gokhale) is a painter whose family does not respect him much. He feels neglected and curses his old age. One day, he receives a letter from Amitabh Bachchan. The letter says they were college buddies once, and Bachchan is coming soon to meet him.
Suddenly, everyone’s attitude changes and they start treating Deshpande like a celebrity. We had seen this concept in Billu (2009) starring Irrfan Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.
Bachchan and Gokhale have worked together in the cult film Agneepath (1990), where Gokhale played the role of police commissioner Gaitonde. The iconic ‘Vijay Deenanath Chauhan’ scene between Bachchan and Gokhale is still etched in the memory of cinephiles.
AB Aani CD marks Amitabh Bachchan’s return to Marathi cinema after Akka (1994), in which he had performed a cameo.
Directed by Milind Lele, AB Aani CD also stars Subodh Bhave, Sayali Sanjeev and Akshay Tanksale. The film is slated to be released on 13 March. Watch the teaser below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
