Sooryavanshi prepares for a new release date on 24 March

The Rohit Shetty film will release on the eve of the festival of Gudi Padwa, with 24/7 shows in Mumbai.

It looks like Rohit Shetty's spin-off, Sooryavanshi (2020) featuring Akshay Kumar will now take advantage of the upcoming Gudi Padwa festivities in Maharashtra with a festive release. The film, initially rumoured to release around 27 March, will now release on 24 March. In addition to the festive release, the film will run in 24/7 shows across Mumbai theatres, as approved by the recent Maharashtra state government decision.

The revelation was made early on Monday by the trio of Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and Ranveer Singh on their social media feeds.

The film, directed by Rohit Shetty, will feature Akshay Kumar as the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) officer, Veer Sooryavanshi. The film is a spin-off of the popular franchise which began with Singham (2011), and was followed by Simmba (2018)

The new video released by the production studio features the trio of the lead actors Ajay Devgn (Singham), Ranveer Singh (Simmba) and Akshay Kumar (Sooryavanshi) walking towards the screen with all guns blazing. The clip also features Katrina Kaif, who will play the lead opposite Kumar in Shetty's film.

The clip seems to hint that the film will see Devgn and Singh make extended cameo appearances, similar to the one made by Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi in Simmba (2018).

The film will also see a recreation of the iconic 1990s track, 'Tip Tip Barsa Paani' from Mohra (1994), with Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif featuring in the video. The film will also feature Gulshan Grover, Jackie Shroff, and Sikandar Kher in key supporting roles.

Sooryavanshi is produced by Rohit Shetty Filmz and Dharma Productions.
