Homi Adajania's Angrezi Medium (2020) follows the 2017 hit Hindi Medium. The makers have retained Irrfan Khan and Deepak Dobriyal from the original for this new film.
Now even music composers Sachin-Jigar have re-used their original composition from Hindi Medium and made a new song ‘Ek Zindagi. In the first film, 'Ek Jindari' is presented as a performance, and this time, the makers have used the song for different situations in this new film.
Radhika Madan's character Tarika Bansal wants to study in London, and she asks another student to help her study. As they spend time together, they form a friendship. Irrfan Khan as Tarika's father is initially skeptical of their relationship.
Though it’s the same composition, Sachin-Jigar have made significant changes in this new song. There is a slight change in the tune of the song. 'Ek Zindagi' is more slow-paced compared to 'Ek Jindari'. Also, the old song was drum and percussion-heavy, whereas for this new song, Sachin-Jigar have primarily used guitars and some drums.
The song is sung by Tanishka Sanghvi, Sachin's daughter, and she had also sung the original song. There is a noticeable change in her voice in these two songs as she has matured since the first film.
Jigar Saraiyya, one half of the composer duo, has also written the lyrics of the song. He perfectly captures the determination of Madan’s character through his lyrics.
Angrezi Medium, directed by Homi Adajania, is due to be released on 13 March. Watch ‘Ek Zingadi' and its previous version below and let us know if you are keen to watch Angrezi Medium.
