Five years ago, a relatively raw Varun Dhawan, surprised everyone with his dark and serious act in Sriram Raghavan's thriller Badlapur (2015). Now five years later, the actor is all set to star in the filmmaker's next.
Raghavan confirmed the news in an exclusive chat with us. "Yes he is there in the film. We are working on something," the director said.
Reports about the film said that it has been titled Ekkis, and is based on the life of army officer Arun Khetarpal, who was martyred in the 1971 war. But Raghavan said that the name of the film has not yet been finalized. "The title and all, is still under process. Right now, I am just trying to get it all to come together," he said.
This film with Dhawan will be the second instance after Agent Vinod (2012) that Raghavan will be making a film on a large canvas. "We haven't begun shooting. We will in a few months. Actually we are waiting for the weather and certain things in pre-production to get done. Since it's a large film, we need a lot of prep," he said.
Dhawan has become the second lead actor after Saif Ali Khan, to be repeated by Raghavan. The director had worked with Khan in Ek Hasina Thi (2004) and Agent Vinod (2012).
