Nithiin to star in Andhadhun's Telugu remake, Merlapaka Gandhi to direct

The Telugu remake rights of the film have been acquired for Rs3.5 crore by Shrest Movies, which is managed by Nithiin's father, according to reports.

Actor Nithiin, who just got engaged to his long-time girlfriend Shalini over the weekend, will star in the yet-to-be titled Telugu remake of the Hindi film, Andhadhun (2018).

According to reports, the Telugu remake rights of Andhadhun have been acquired for Rs3.5 crore by Nithiin’s own banner, Shrest Movies, which is managed by his father. Reports have also confirmed that Merlapaka Gandhi, who has directed films like Venkatadri Express (2013) and Express Raja (2016), will helm the Telugu remake. It is expected to go on floors in a couple of months.

Nithiin is currently awaiting the release of Telugu romantic comedy Bheeshma (2020), which also stars Rashmika Mandanna. The film is set to release on 21 February. He also has Rang De (2020) and a yet untitled movie with filmmaker Chandrasekhar Yeleti in the pipeline. He is currently filming for Rang De, which also stars Keerthy Suresh.

The actor has high hopes for Bheeshma, which has been directed by Venky Kudumula. The film marks the return of the veteran Kannada actor, Anant Nag, to the Telugu industry after 27 years. Apparently, the director was keen to have Nag in the film and it took multiple rounds of discussion to convince the actor.

According to our source, Nag plays a bachelor, who is into organic farming in the film. Bheeshma deals with the issue of food adulteration.

Produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and presented by PDV Prasad, Bheeshma also stars Naresh VK, Kalyani Natarajan, Raghu Babu and Sampath in supporting roles. Mahati Swara Sagar has been roped in as the music composer for this film.
