Irrfan Khan fans can rejoice. The actor's return to the big screen in Homi Adajania's Angrezi Medium (2020) is set to be released in theatres a week ahead of schedule. The film will now arrive on the big screen on 13 March instead of 20 March.
Producers Karan Johar, of Dharma Productions, and Dinesh Vijan, of Maddock Films, shared a picture of the two coming to an agreement over the new release dates.
Friendships in the fraternity are rare but when they exist ...they are empowering! Dinoo and I have have made an exchange of dates! Johar said, "Dinoo and I have made an exchange of dates! Angrezi Medium will come a week earlier on the Gunjan Saxena date of 13 March 2020, while Gunjan Saxena takes the Roohi Afzana date of 24 April 2020."
Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, a Dharma Productions venture, was set to be released on 13 March. It will now be released on 24 April while Maddock Films's Roohi Afzana, which was earlier slotted for 24 April, now moves to 5 June.
It's going to be a hilariously-chilly ride!#RoohiAfzana will now take over the big screen on 5th June 2020#JanhviKapoor @RajkummarRao @varunsharma90#DineshVijan @MrigLamba @gautammehra99

While no reasons have been given, it seems the makers of Angrezi Medium wanted an earlier release date to ensure their box-office prospects are not affected by Rohit Shetty's action entertainer, Sooryavanshi, which is slated for release on 27 March.
With both Roohi Afzana and Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl starring Janhvi Kapoor, Dharma Productions and Maddock Films seem to have chosen to put a gap between the two releases.
The change in release dates will mean that Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl will now clash with Anurag Basu's Ludo (2020) on 24 April.
