Mohit Suri’s Malang may not have crashed at the box office over the weekdays, but its collections are not as impressive as they need to be. The Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, Anil Kapoor and Kunal Kemmu-starrer has earned an average number of Rs38 crore nett in its first week, according to the figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

Malang’s first weekend number was also average at Rs24 crore nett. And following this, the film’s journey at the ticket window didn’t go beyond average.

The film’s overall number of Rs38 crore nett is not bad, considering the fact that it does not have a single big star. But with the film’s estimated cost at around Rs50 crore, its collections don’t paint a pretty picture as of now.

It is vital for the film to have a good second weekend beginning tomorrow. It remains to be seen if that happens as Love Aaj Kal has bagged a good number of screens. It also stars popular names like Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan.

Meanwhile, Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Shikara has crashed in the first week. After a low first weekend of Rs4.55 crore nett, the film’s weekday numbers ranged between Rs45 lakh nett to Rs35 lakh nett.

With its current total being only Rs6.05 crore nett, and its cost of production amounting to Rs20 crore nett, this  film about Kashmiri Pandits is essentially out of the race.
