One hundred children from the Agaram Foundation flew with actor Suriya on Thursday to launch a single from his upcoming Tamil film Soorarai Pottru (2020), a project based on the life of Captain GR Gopinath, founder of India's first low-cost airline, Air Deccan.

A statement from the makers of the film said the single, 'Veyyon Silli', was launched mid-air, aboard a SpiceJet Boeing 737 aircraft.

Suriya, who founded the non-profit organization, accompanied the 100 first-time fliers for the song's launch. The children were chosen by the Agaram team through an essay competition. The subject: their fondest dreams and desires.

The project, which marks Suriya’s maiden collaboration with director Sudha Kongara, also stars Aparna Balamurali, Paresh Rawal and veteran Telugu actor Mohan Babu. According to the grapevine, Rawal plays the antagonist.

Produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment, the film marks the Southern debut of well-known Hindi film producer Guneet Monga. She is co-producing Soorarai Pottru. The film, with music by GV Prakash Kumar, is due for release in April.

The team recently filmed major action sequences in Chandigarh under the supervision of Hollywood stunt choreographer Greg Powell, known for his work in films like The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) and Skyfall (2012).

Suriya has another film with Viswasam (2019) director Siva in the offing this year. That project is being produced by Studio Green.
