The Kolkata Lake Club will host a musical soiree, Chandni O Meri Chandni, to celebrate 33 years of Jolly Mukherjee's musical journey on 14 February. Apart from his vast repertoire of songs, the uncanny resemblance of Mukherjee's voice to that of the legendary Mohammed Rafi, has made his live shows a delight for his listeners.
Known for his collaborations with Kishore Kumar, RD Burman, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Kalyanji-Anandji, Shiv-Hari, Rajesh Roshan, Anu Malik, Viju Shah, Anand Milind, Nadeem-Shravan, Jatin-Lalit and Dilip Sen-Sameer Sen, amongst others, Mukherjee began his career by leading the chorus team of RD Burman in 1978 for the film Shalimar. His singing career commenced with Feroz Khan's Dayavan (1988).
"I have been fortunate to sing for, and also work in close association with, the best musical geniuses of the Indian music industry. The journey has been pretty long and satisfying and I am still raring to go. I am thankful to the Lake Club authorities for acknowledging my musical journey and hosting this event for such a wonderful audience," he stated.
Mukherjee will be accompanied on stage by RD Burman’s musicians, Raj Sodha (saxophone & English flute), Kishore Sodha (trumpet), Blasco Monsorate (trombone), Nitin Shankar (Indian & Latin percussion) along with a host of talented musicians from the city. Priyanka Mitra will join him on stage for the duets.
"I will be singing some of the landmark songs of my career and also pay tribute to the musical greats who have inspired me. The love that I have received from my mentors, my co-singers and my fans is truly unparalleled," stated the singer.
Mukherjee will treat the audience to songs like 'Awara Banjara', 'Chandni O Meri Chandni', 'Goriya Re Goriya', 'Aar Ya Paar', 'Meri Sahebaan', 'Aaj Hum Tum O Sanam' and 'Muqabla' at the concert, which will be co-hosted by RJ Arvind and RJ Jinia.
