The trailer of director Indrasis Acharya's upcoming film Parcel offers glimpses of a multi-layered story. Featuring Rituparna Sengupta, Saswata Chatterjee, Sreela Majumdar, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Damini Benny Basu and Anindya Chatterjee, the film also won Acharya the Hiralal Sen Memorial award for Best Director at the 25th Kolkata International Film Festival last year.
Acharya appears to have used a greyish colour tone in the entire film to resemble the grey areas and emotions in the life of his characters. In the film, Nandini (Sengupta), a doctor by profession, begins to receive parcels from a stranger. The parcels not only bring up her past but also create a rift in her relationship with her husband Souvik (Saswata), who is also a doctor.
The trailer hints at the film's underlying themes of guilt and infidelity and the characters' anxiety grows as the crisis unfolds in the life of the protagonists. As Nandini's past unravels, her husband turns suspicious, but she too begins to voice the breach of commitment by Souvik. In short, the arrival of the parcels begins to highlight the underlying issues in the couple's marital relationship, which had so far been brushed under the carpet.
The other characters in the the film, played by Anindya and Damini, create intrigue with their interesting equation with Nandini in the trailer. In the end, the threat to Souvik’s medical career shows that the film's story unfolds at multiple levels, addressing societal and psychological issues under the garb of a thriller.
Parcel is slated to release on 13 March. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
