The music of first-time director Rohan Sen’s upcoming film Ebhabei Golpo Hok (2020) was launched on 6 February at The Spring Club, Kolkata in the presence of the director, music director Rajdeep Ganguly, singer and composer Rupankar Bagchi, producer and vocalist Amrita De, aristes Ananda S Choudhuri, Bibriti Chatterjee and Santilal Mukherjee.
Sen, who is only 20, said that many doubted his ability to make a feature film due to his inexperience. However, he received tremendous support to pull off the film with the participation of both new and senior artistes from the industry, including Mukherjee, Joy Sengupta and Rupanjana Mitra.
“I was quite amazed to see such a young talent making a feature film," music director Ganguly said. “I personally love to do experimental music and follow the course of the narrative with close attention. I did not have to struggle much to compose the songs as the story really helped me in this regard. Also, Raj Sen has penned the lyrics with such clarity, that it provided me with a narrative too,” he added.
While composing the title track, Ganguly said he immediately thought of Bagchi. “I think Rupankar Da added his own dimension to the song and enriched it," he stated. He also praised the other vocalists Kinjal and De for their renditions.
Bagchi, congratulating the efforts of the new talent, said, “We have been working for a long time, following certain patterns but while working with new artistes, we get to hear refreshing sound. Artistes of the new generation are coming forward now and I am sure that the film and its music will be appreciated widely.”
Ebhabei Golpo Hok has six songs, including one Rabindra Sangeet. Sen, who makes his debut as a lyricist, stated that writing songs was a new experience for him altogether.
"I used to write in magazines and have always been very passionate about it. I attempted to write songs before, but was not satisfied. I think this time my efforts have borne fruit and I am grateful for that," Sen said.
Ebhabei Golpo Hok is slated to release on 13 March.
