The film, a tribute to the 1971 hit starring Rajesh Khanna and Tanuja, will see Daggubati play a mahout named Bandev. The poster also hints at the close relationship between the animal and the man, as Daggubati's Bandev roars out of the poster while holding a staff. The elephant's faded image hovers in the background.
Haathi Mere Saathi has been shot extensively across Thailand and Kerala. The film was initially set for release during Diwali 2018, but was then pushed back to April 2020.
Produced by Eros International, Haathi Mere Saathi will have music by Shantanu Moitra and sound design by Oscar-winner Resul Pookutty.
