Hansal Mehta's critically acclaimed mini-series Scam 1992 has another feather in its cap. The show has made it to the top of the Internet Movie Database's (IMDb) list of 10 best Indian web-series of the year. Also featured on the list are Amazon Prime's Panchayat, which stars Jitendra Kumar, and the Disney+ Hotstar drama Special Ops.
Led by Pratik Gandhi, Scam 1992 chronicles the dramatic rise and fall of the infamous stockbroker Harshad Mehta, who masterminded one of the biggest scams in Indian trading history.
Films and shows are rated by IMDb users on a scale of one to 10. Scam 1992 currently boasts a rating of 9.5, which has earned it a spot on IMDb's list of top 250 TV series of all time.
Besides Panchayat, which holds the second spot, other Amazon Prime shows such as the musical Bandish Bandits, the crime series popular Mirzapur and Anushka Sharma's production Pataal Lok also made it to the list, ranking fourth, fifth and seventh respectively.
In a press note, IMDb founder and CEO Col Needham said, "In fact, our number one user-rated Indian web series of this year, Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, has been so popular that it landed a top spot on the IMDb list of the Top 250 TV Series of all-time."
Akshay Oberoi's MX Player series High ranked eighth while the Zee5 thriller Abhay, which stars Kunal Kemmu, ranked ninth. Sushmita Sen's comeback Aarya, which is being streamed on Disney+ Hotstar, ranked tenth.
