Marathi series, films to be streamed on OTT platform Letsflix

The company is a joint venture between entrepreneurs Narendra Firodia and Rahul Narvekar.

Entrepreneurs Narendra Firodia and Rahul Narvekar are all set to launch the over-the-top (OTT) platform Letsflix where original regional content such as movies and web-series will be streamed. In the initial phase of the project, only Marathi content will be streamed on the platform.

Speaking about Letsflix, Firodia said in an official statement, “When we begin something new, we face challenges. But we also have a talented team with us, so we are very positive and optimistic about the future. We are ready to face these challenges and give the best content to our audience.”

Throwing light on the decision to stream regional content, he said, “In India, every state has its own film industry. Our focus will be on regional content and we will start with Marathi content. We will give a platform to those who want to create films, web-series and short films or those who are looking for a platform to showcase their work.”

Firodia has also produced Marathi films such as Aga Bai Arechya 2 (2015) and Triple Seat (2019)

Explaining why Marathi content is being streamed first on Letsflix, Narvekar said, “We already have an infotainment app called LetsUp which has more than nine lakh users. The majority of them are Marathi [speakers]. In a year, we realized that people prefer the video format compared to text. Also, there is no OTT platform for Marathi, so we also wanted to fill this void.”

He added that they are also targeting the Marathi population outside India. “LetsUp also has users outside India, so to present our Marathi songs [and] films to this Marathi generation who is born and brought up in foreign [countries], we could introduce Marathi content to them and create a liking for it (sic),” added Narvekar.
