The contingent of Punjabi stars lending their voice and visibility to the continuing farmers' protest against three new farm laws grew stronger on the weekend as actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh joined the protestors on the ground, after defending them and their cause on social media.
Dosanjh got caught up in a Twitter spat last week with actress-filmmaker Kangana Ranaut after the latter accused the protestors of peddling an agenda. He then joined the protestors on the outskirts of Delhi at the Singhu border on Saturday, 5 December.
Taking to the podium, Dosanjh made a plea to the national media to report events as they happen and not to suit an agenda. "It is my humble request to the government to listen to the demands of our farmers," he continued. "I would also request the national media to show how this is a peaceful protest. The whole country is with us, but we also need your support."
"Hindi mein bhi bol raha hun, taaki Google na karna pade. Main National media se request karta hun ki jo ho raha hai wahi dikhayein. Sab peacefully baithe hain aur inki demands suni jaayein"@diljitdosanjh at the Singhu Border.

Our farmers are India’s Food Soldiers. Their fears need to be allayed. Their hopes need to be met. As a thriving democracy, we must ensure that this crises is resolved sooner than later. https://t.co/PDOD0AIeFv
