The teaser posters for the upcoming Shakeela biopic have mostly featured actress Richa Chadha in the lead. However, this time around, we are introduced to Pankaj Tripathi’s character, that of a South superstar, in the latest poster released from the film.
The actor is having a busy 2020 with important parts in films like Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and Ludo, as well as the popular web-series Mirzapur 2. Tripathi also had brief roles in Angrezi Medium (2020) and the Hollywood film Extraction (2020).
In the first look poster of his character, the actor grabs the limelight in a red snazzy suit and sunglasses, a trophy in one hand and a microphone in the other. His character’s name has not been revealed.
Speaking about his part, Tripathi said, “I am thrilled that our little labour of love Shakeela is all set to release in theatres this Christmas. I am so excited about the film because I have worked with the very talented friend Richa Chadha in this film. I have a beautiful part in the film.
“I play an actor for the first time in my career,” he continued. “I have always wanted to play an actor on screen and bring out the idiosyncrasies of artistes on screen. It's an interesting and colourful character.”
Shakeela, written and directed by Indrajit Lankesh, is due to be released on 25 December, Christmas, in cinemas across India.
