Kiara Advani will play in her next film a woman who started an enterprise that went on to change India's food industry.
Titled Karram Kurram, the film will be produced by Ashutosh Gowariker Productions and is based on the success story of the women's cooperative behind the popular Lijjat Papad.
The film will be directed by Glen Barretto and Ankush Mohla, who have both been assistants to Gowariker.
Karram Kurram narrates the story of a woman who started a cooperative with six other housewives to earn for their households. That cooperative, Mahila Griha Udyog, has sustained the households of thousands of women for over six decades now.
The film takes its title from the jingle of the iconic television commercial that promoted Lijjat Papad countrywide in the 1980s and 1990s. The film, headlined by Advani, will look at the inception and rise of a women's cooperative that went on to become a food conglomerate.
This will be Advani's second major film as solo heroine, after her upcoming Indoo Ki Jawaani (2020). The actress is also part of Jugjugg Jeeyo (2021), co-starring Anil Kapoor and Varun Dhawan.
