Shilpa Shukla  joins cast of Hotstar's Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors

After the successful first season of Criminal Justice, Disney+ Hotstar is set to release the next chapter of the courtroom drama series, Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors. This time Shilpa Shukla will join Pankaj Tripathi, who will reprise the role of defence lawyer Madhav Mishra. Anupriya Goenka will also return as lawyer Nikhat Hussain. 

Shukla, best known for featuring in films such as Chak De! India (2007) and BA Pass (2013), will play a powerful, mysterious woman named Ishani Nath, who is capable of defending herself in tough situations.

Talking about the project, Shukla said "I loved every bit of it! Preparation started when we all sat for a couple of script readings. Talking to the directors, actors, the dialogues, the subtext. The people on set, everything inspired us to get into the role."

The first season, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Vishal Furia, featured Vikrant Massey, Jackie Shroff and Mita Vashisht. It was an Indian adaption of the hit BBC series of the same name, which was previously adapted into the Emmy Award-winning HBO show The Night Of.
