The trailer of David Dhawan’s Coolie No 1, which was released last week, has been receiving flak from various quarters. The latest song from the remake, ‘Teri Bhabhi’, doesn’t help things.
The track is intended to be a typical addictive dance number that is a must for all commercial capers. These are the type of songs are mostly played during the Ganesh Visarjan [immersion of Ganesh idols].
While it has a peppy vibe, rich sets, a large number of background dancers and two popular actors, the song lacks the punch needed in such tracks. The fault lies with Javed-Mohsin’s music and Danish Sabri’s lyrics. The tune tends to stagnate, which causes the overall track to sound like a rushed job.
Singers Dev Negi and Neha Kakkar have done a fair job, but their competence fails to salvage the song.
Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan’s pairing looks positive and their dance steps are decent though not extraordinary.
Coolie No 1 is the remake of David Dhawan’s own film of the same name, which was released in 1995. It starred Govinda, Karisma Kapoor, Kader Khan and Sadashiv Amrapurkar. The remake also stars Paresh Rawal, Jaaved Jaaferi, Shikha Talsania and Sahil Vaid.
Coolie No. 1 will release on 25 December on Amazon Prime Video.
Check out the song and let us know if you are keen on watching the movie.
